What to Expect After You Reach Out

When you contact me, here's what happens next:

I personally read all messages and typically respond within one business days. We'll schedule a phone consultation where we can talk about what's bringing you in and see if we're a good fit.

During the consultation, we'll talk about what you've been experiencing, what you're hoping therapy can help with, and whether my approach feels right for you. If it does, we'll schedule your first session. If it doesn't, that's okay too, I can help you think about what might work better.

Session Fees

Payment is collected at the time of each session. Sessions include the time we spend together, as well as any time I spend between sessions reviewing notes, coordinating care, or preparing for our work together.

 FREE 15 minutes

FAQs

Have questions about what it’s like to work together?

  • What are your fees?

A 53-minute session is $175. A 90-minute session is $260. Intensives are $850 for new clients and $650 for current clients. Payment is due at the time of service.

  • Do you take insurance?

I am an out-of-network provider, which means I do not bill insurance directly. What I can give you is a superbill, a detailed receipt with the codes your insurance company needs, which you submit for possible reimbursement. Before we start, call the number on the back of your card and ask two things: whether you have out-of-network outpatient mental health benefits, and what percentage is reimbursed once your deductible is met. That gives you a real number to plan around instead of a guess.

  • Why don't you take insurance?

Working outside of insurance keeps the work between the two of us. There is no diagnosis submitted to a company for approval, no external cap on how many sessions you get, and no one outside this office deciding when you are finished.

  • Do you offer a sliding scale?

I hold two reduced-fee spots through Open Path Collective, and both are currently full. They do open up. If cost is the thing standing between you and starting, say so during the consultation and I will tell you where things stand and what your options are.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

Credit and debit cards, HSA and FSA cards, and electronic payment through the client portal. Payment is collected at the time of each session.

  • What is a Good Faith Estimate?

Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to a written estimate of what your care will cost before you begin. Upong request, I will give you one at the start, and you can ask for an updated estimate any time your schedule or plan changes.

  • What is your cancellation policy?

I ask for 24 hours notice to cancel or reschedule. Sessions cancelled with less notice, and missed sessions, are charged the full fee. Insurance does not reimburse missed sessions.

LOGISTICS

  • How long are sessions?

A standard session is 53 minutes. I also offer 90-minute sessions, which are often the better fit for EMDR or ART reprocessing, where the extra time means you are not stopping in the middle of something. We can decide together which length makes sense.

  • Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. I see clients in person at my office in Fayetteville and by secure telehealth. I am licensed in New York  and registered to provide telehealth in Florida and Vermont.  If you are a student who lives in one state and goes to school in another, that is

    usually workable.

  • Where is your office?

6834 East Genesee Street, second floor of the Understanding Building, Fayetteville, NY 13066.

There is a white sign "Upstate Professional Buildings" at the entrance of the parking lot, and my building is at the end of the parking lot. Ther eis ample parking.  If you are coming for the first time and cannot find the entrance, call or text and I will walk you in.

  • How often will we meet?

Most people start weekly. Once things steady out, some move to every other week. Intensives work differently, as we will meet in a concentrated block rather than a standing weekly appointment.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
